Processor Profiles
Price is the starting point, not the whole story. Here’s what each processor brings to the table — and where they fall short.
Featured
- Lowest published starting rate at 5% — drops further with volume and low CB ratio
- No setup fee, no monthly fee, no annual scheme registration charge
- DNB-regulated with EU passporting — strong compliance standing
- Dedicated account managers on every account — a named contact, not a support queue
- Fully in-house tech stack: hardware and software built and owned by CURO/DialXS
- 5–7 working day onboarding when documents are in order
- Weekly payouts as standard, adjustable to merchant needs
- Local EU payment methods reduce cross-border friction and improve conversion
- Transparent flat chargeback (€25) and refund (€1.50) fees
- Smaller brand recognition than legacy processors like CCBill or Epoch
- US merchants may face more friction due to EU-centric acquiring setup
- 10% rolling reserve standard for new accounts (industry-normal)
EU-based adult, dating, or AI merchants who want competitive pricing, a dedicated account manager who actually knows their business, and a processor that controls its own technology end-to-end.

Est. 1998
- 25+ years in adult — deepest industry expertise available
- Robust subscription billing, affiliate system, and checkout tools
- 24/7 consumer and merchant support; multilingual billing
- Actively avoids account freezes
- VScrub and Smart Checkout fraud screening built-in
- Adult rates of 10.8%–14.5% are among the highest in this comparison
- Annual registration fees ($500–$1,000) add fixed cost burden
- No crypto payment support
- Reserve held 6 months after exit; data export is slow and manual
- Trustpilot score of 1.9/5 reflects significant consumer billing complaints
CCBill’s 10-day termination clause looks flexible, but reserves are frozen for six months after exit. Plan migrations at least 6 months in advance.

Est. Legacy
- No rolling reserve — unusual and beneficial for cash flow
- All-inclusive flat rate covers billing support, compliance, fraud tools
- Rates drop automatically as volume grows
- Strong subscription billing and one-click rebilling
- Merchants don’t need their own merchant account
- Starting rate of 15% is the highest in this comparison
- $1,950 annual Visa/MC registration fee
- US and EU-incorporated businesses only
- No crypto payments
- Consumer complaints around trial billing transparency
The $1,950 annual fee isn’t in rate comparisons. For a merchant doing $5K/month, that’s an extra ~3.25% effective rate. At high volume the all-inclusive model becomes more competitive.

Est. 2005
- Fast approvals: typically 24–72 hours post-KYC
- Weekly settlements with short payout delays
- Dual US + EU licensing (FCA & CBI)
- Multiple acquiring relationships for redundancy
- Rates reduce with volume growth
- No publicly published rates
- $950 Visa + $500 MC annual fees = $1,450/yr fixed cost
- US, UK, and EU merchants only
- Consumer complaints about unauthorized billing charges
Segpay doesn’t publish rates. The $1,450 in annual scheme fees is confirmed on their FAQ, but processing rates require a direct application. Budget for this from day one.

High Rates
- First high-risk IPSP with official EMI status from Dutch Central Bank
- Transparent published pricing — Basic and Premium tiers defined
- PCI DSS compliance included in annual fee
- Crypto payments supported
- OpenAffiliate built-in; strong affiliate marketing tools
- Weekly payouts in USD, EUR, or GBP
- 15.5% Basic rate among the highest in this comparison
- +1.5% surcharge on ALL recurring transactions
- Merchant complaints: frozen funds, poor support, abrupt account cancellations
- CB ratio above 1% triggers automatic 2.5% surcharge
- Consumer FX practices have drawn complaints
The +1.5% recurring surcharge is easy to miss. A subscription site at 15.5% pays 17% on all renewals — a substantial drag on lifetime value.

7 Things to Watch Before You Sign
The headline rate is the beginning of the conversation, not the end of it. Here are the things that catch merchants off guard.
Epoch charges $1,950/year. Segpay charges $1,450/year. CCBill charges $500–$1,000/year. CURO / DialXS charges none. Always calculate your effective rate including annual fees.
Verotel adds 1.5% to every recurring transaction. On a 15.5% base that’s effectively 17% on your most profitable transactions — repeat revenue.
CCBill holds your rolling reserve for six months after termination. Plan migrations at least 6 months in advance or expect revenue to be frozen during your switch.
Verotel adds an automatic 2.5% surcharge if your 4-week CB ratio exceeds 1%. A bad fraud month can permanently raise your processing cost until ratios recover.
Segpay doesn’t publish its processing rates. If a processor won’t publish a starting rate, get multiple quotes simultaneously and negotiate with data, not guesswork.
CCBill’s standard payout is nine days after the billing period. For platforms with creators to pay, settlement timing matters as much as rate.
Epoch only accepts US or EU-incorporated merchants. Segpay is limited to US, UK, and EU. If you’re incorporated elsewhere, your shortlist may be shorter than you think.
Who Wins What
No single processor wins every category — here’s where each excels.
